Various Considerations When Contemplating Container Hire

Industrial & Manufacturing Blog

When contemplating shipping containers, it may be better off hiring one rather than buying it outright. This is especially true if you are using is for one off transportation of goods rather than running a business with it. However, opting for container hire is not simply about choosing the cheapest container that you come across. These containers are priced according to their size as well as durability; therefore, there are a number of things that you would have to keep in mind before making a decision on what would be best suited for your needs. Here are some of the various considerations when contemplating container hire.

Consider the material used in constructing the container

Granted, most container are made from steel. However, despite steel being a sturdy material that will be able to support heavy goods, it tends to be susceptible to rust. As such, it would be in your best interests to seek out containers that are manufactured from corten steel. This type of steel is resistant to atmospheric corrosion, so you do not have to worry about your goods being exposed to rust while they are in transit. It should be noted though that these containers might be more expensive than conventional steel container hire.

Consider a damage inspection

Before opting for container hire, you need to have a damage inspection carried out. A common misconception some people make is that damages should not concern them if they are simply renting the container. The truth of the matter, though, is that damages on the container could actually end up affecting the integrity of your goods. For instance, if there are cracks and crevices within the interior of the container, chances are it will be susceptible to leaks. If your goods will be travelling a long distance and the shipping container will have to brave several sea storms on the way, you could end up with extensively damaged goods.

Consider the grade of the shipping container

When it comes to container hire, you will have to make a selection from different grades of container. These grades are an indicator of how old or new the shipping container is. For instance, grade A containers are either brand-new or have only been used for one freight trip. Grade B containers tend to be used but are still in worthwhile condition. Grade C containers tend to be the cheapest since these have carried out several trips.

John's Industrial and Manufacturing Blog

Welcome to my piece of the internet. My name is John, and I imagine you found this blog while looking for information about industrial or manufacturing concepts. I recently decided to start this blog because I needed somewhere that I could share my research. I recently moved to a small town, and I'm trying to attract factory owners to set up shop there. As a result, I have done an immense amount of research into these fields. I figure the more I know the easier it will be to pitch our town to business owners. Anyway, this blog is a separate project to that. It's just a space where I want to share tips and ideas related to manufacturing. I love writing, and I hope that you enjoy reading my posts. More importantly, I hope they help you make your business more productive. Thanks for reading!
